Install non-woven wallpaper

Installing Non-Woven Wallpaper:

Non-woven wallpaper is a popular choice due to its ease of installation. Follow these steps for a successful application:

What You'll Need:

  1. Non-woven wallpaper
  2. Measuring tape
  3. Wallpaper adhesive/paste suitable for non-woven wallpaper
  4. Wallpaper smoothing tool or brush
  5. Utility knife
  6. Level
  7. Sponge or damp cloth

Steps:

  1. Prepare the Wall:
Ensure the wall surface is clean, smooth, and dry. Remove any old wallpaper and fill in any cracks or holes. Sand rough areas for a smooth finish.

  2. Measure and Cut the Wallpaper:
Measure the height of the wall, adding a few inches for excess at the top and bottom. Use a utility knife to cut the wallpaper into strips, matching the wall height. Remember to align the patterns if applicable.

  3. Apply Wallpaper Adhesive:
Follow the manufacturer's instructions to mix or activate the wallpaper adhesive. Apply the adhesive evenly onto the wall using a paint roller or brush, ensuring full coverage.

  4. Hang the Wallpaper:
Carefully place the first strip of wallpaper onto the wall, starting from one side of the wall to the other. Use a wallpaper smoothing tool or brush to gently press the wallpaper against the wall, removing any air bubbles.

  5. Align and Trim:
Use a level to ensure the wallpaper is straight. Match the edges of each strip precisely, slightly overlapping if necessary. Use a sharp utility knife to trim excess wallpaper at the top and bottom.

  6. Continue Hanging Strips:
Repeat the process, aligning the pattern and edges of each subsequent strip. Smooth out each strip as you hang it and wipe away any excess adhesive with a damp sponge or cloth.

  7. Let It Set:
Allow the wallpaper to dry completely as per the adhesive manufacturer's instructions. This usually takes around 24 hours.

  8. Final Touches:
Once the wallpaper is dry, inspect for any air bubbles or loose edges. Gently press down any areas that may need additional adhesion.

Tips:

  • Work methodically, hanging one strip at a time to avoid the adhesive drying out.
  • Take your time to match patterns and align edges for a seamless look.
  • Clean any excess adhesive immediately with a damp cloth to prevent it from drying on the wallpaper.

By following these steps, you can install non-woven wallpaper efficiently and enhance the aesthetics of your space.
